Custom Fit
A seat cover that has been meticulously crafted to fit an automobile’s seat is called a custom fit seat cover. Such a seat cover fits so well because it has been made with the exact year, make and model measurements that are obtained from the automobile maker. This data is then fed to the computer for the designing and so what you get is something that is precise.
Friction
Friction in Physics means rubbing together of two objects. Friction happens when either one or both the objects are in motion. This constant contact between these two objects releases energy in the form of heat. This eventually results in deterioration of the surface material.
Neoprene
Neoprene was widely used as an alternative to natural rubber mainly because of its oil-resistant qualities. But soon various other applications of this material were discovered, and it started to become popular. Neoprene is nowadays used in wet suits, fan belts, noise insulation pads, gaskets, and electrical insulation and also seat covers.
Pelts
Animal skin that still has the fur, hair or wool still attached to it is termed as Pelts. Most users prefer pelts as they do not shed, unlike other lesser fur seat covers.
Pink Slip
This American slang term stands for the title of a vehicle. You are advised by most DMVs not to drive without your pink slip in the glove box, just in case your vehicle is ever gets stolen. Never give someone the opportunity of getting the title of your automobile.
Polyester
Polyester is made of synthetic fibers that impart strength. The covers are lightweight and have for long been used for various applications because of its water-resistance quality.
Semi-Custom Fit
Semi-custom fit means that these seat cover will fit about 80% as well as a full customized seat cover. However you should never be using these covers if your vehicle has side impact airbags as a semi custom fit does not have cut outs to access these vital safety systems.
Universal Fit
A Universal seat cover is the one that you normally come across. Available in 3 sizes, these covers promise a lot but deliver very little. Since they are not made to the specification, rarely do they fit well.
UV / Ultra Violet
Ultra Violet or UV ray is an electromagnetic wave of light that is emitted from the Sun. These rays are invisible to the human eye, but it is visible to many snakes, birds and insects. Sun emits large amounts of UV radiation but most of it is blocked by our atmosphere. But what does get through, is harmful to our skin and to our automobile upholstery as well. It dries out the natural oils in leather, and it bleaches color out of vinyl and cloth upholstery.
